Nikon D600 Launched in Kuwait

The latest, smallest and the lightest Nikon FX-format D600 was launched in Kuwait today morning at the JW Marriott Hotel, Kuwait City. The function was held by Ashraf & Co. and Nikon. This was the 1st major launch of any camera here earlier, its quite interesting since only couple of weeks back the D600 was initially announced, followed by a grand launch in Dubai on the same day and now finally in Kuwait. It’s quite interesting to note that Nikon is considering the Middle East market seriously. The D600 was unveiled by Nikon ME and Ashraf Imaging Group officials.

The D600 is a hybrid with a 24.3 effective megapixel and high-density 39-point AF system employed with  a Multi-CAM 4800 auto focus sensor module, with a close feel in terms of controls, ergonomics and weight to the Nikon D7000. In comparison to the D800 it uses the same EXPEED 3 processor, has the second best sensor in the world ranking just behind to it’s elder brother the Nikon D800, but overall the D800 falls in a different segment and is more superior.

The D600 will be sold separately (body only), as well as along with AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR Kit lens which is quite unique, since unlike the DX-format the Nikon FX-format camera’s were never sold with a Kit lens. The estimated price of Nikon D600 (Body only) in Kuwait shall be around KD 775  KD 700.

Hi Wilson… in terms of price you know how Kuwait market sells products at an exorbitant price. Regarding to your question, YES you can use your DX lenses, the camera would self-detect when you mount a DX lens, however the image resolution would be downgraded to 10.5 mega pixels. I wished it could have been a minimum of 12 mega pixels if not 16.2 mega pixel which is what the D7000 boost of.

Hi Pinesh… There is no difference if you buy from an authorised Nikon dealer here or in India with regards to the build quality. In India however there are bundled offers and more attractive promotions and in some cases they are comparatively cheaper. Compare the prices in both places, before you make a decision.

Nikon covers 2 types of Warranty
a. Nikon Service Warranty (DSLR, COOLPIX, Film Scanners & Accessories which carry Individual warranty card) – 12 months warranty valid only in the country where you purchased this product
b. Nikon Worldwide Service Warranty (Nikkor Lenses, Film SLR, Speedlight & Film camera accessories) – 12 months worldwide service warranty (unless otherwise stated).

Beware of Grey market products as they don\’t carry any warranty. If you are taking your camera with couple of gears and accessories to India from here, Please declare it at the customs and inform it\’s for personal use and you would get it back. If you are purchasing from India and getting to Kuwait, be sure to do the Export Custom paperwork clearance to avoid the hassles at the customs. You can check with the Nikon Dealer as well other Electronic stores with regards to the nearest clearance point to your City/State.
